The community lacemaking project will be a single, large piece of lace to be exhibited in Sydney in mid 2024. It will measure at least three square metres.

 

A tapestry of small needle lace motifs, designed and pieced together by Maggie Hensel-Brown, but made by hundreds of others.

June 9: Introduction to Estonian knitted lace

Following the business meeting on 6/9, Anne Reaves led our program:  Introduction to Estonian knitted lace.  She encouraged the members to try a 16 stitch sampler --  so, do you know what a "Nupp" is?

 Do you see the raised areas inside 3 of the four diamonds?  "Nupp".

 Do you know what to do when you have a yarn over at the end of a row -- and need to purl the next row?   Stumped?   Guess who knows .... Yes, Anne has the answer --  Just ask!

The July program (following business meeting) is a Lace In.   Please bring anything you have in progress, including the June sampler (Intro to Estonian knitted lace).   Or create a few small lace samples for the cards we hand out at community events.

Comfort Doll Project

The Comfort Doll Project

is an ongoing program

coordinated by

Brenda Hutchings

in Valparaiso, Indiana.

Hand made dolls

are collected and sent to

women's shelters

with card attached:

The Comfort Doll Project was started

in September of 2007, 

and coordinated by Pat Winter 

until 12/2009 when Brenda took over.

Butterfly Project

The Butterfly Project

The Holocaust Museum, (Houston:)

is collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies

in an effort to remember the 1,500,000 children

who died in the Holocaust.

The museum will exhibit the butterflies

in the Spring of 2014.

Should you be interested in participating:

The size should be no larger than 8x10", made in

any medium the artist chooses - two-dimensional submissions preferred.

Glitter should not be used.   They would also like to have digital photographs.

Butterflies should be sent by December 31, 2012 to:
